The Iyadi Mercy Humanitarian Society in Iraq, in cooperation with the Centre for Global Dialogue<\/a>, Kaiciid, launched an interactive symposium on the issue of “Promoting peace through education in Iraq” as part of the dialogue projects.<\/p>\n

The interactive symposium discussed the role of education in consolidating understanding among religious followers following the success of the comprehensive field research conducted by Ayadi Mercy Humanitarian Assistance \u202c\u2069 with the support of the World Centre for\u00a0 \u00a0Dialogue<\/a> \u202c\u2069 A symposium on “Promoting peacebuilding through support for research and dialogue among religious followers in Iraq” was held with the participation of selected experts and participants to discuss the results of the research and the role of education in promoting\u00a0 \u00a0interreligious coexistence and understanding in Iraq<\/p>\n

\u2067The results of the research focused on improving educational curricula and promoting non-formal education in areas of religious diversity such as Sinjar and Bashija were discussed. Participants reviewed ways to promote tolerance and understanding among students from diverse religious backgrounds through the curriculum.<\/p>\n

During the interactive symposium, attendees discussed the importance of non-formal education<\/a> in communities with a lack of formal educational systems Its role in supporting peaceful coexistence and disseminating the values of peace and understanding was emphasized.
\nThe symposium was widely interacted with attendees, who stressed the importance of educational initiatives in building peace in Iraq, and stressed the need to continue these dialogues to ensure sustainable peace among various religious components.<\/p>\n

The results of the research conducted prior to the symposium concluded that it would be published in a paper in Arabic and English on how to counter hate speech and promote peaceful coexistence through education.<\/p>\n

Future Goals<\/strong>
\nBased on the outcome of the symposium, recommendations will be made to decision makers in the education sector, especially in areas such as Sinjar, to promote tolerance and coexistence among various religious components, with a focus on education as the main tool for building peace<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
